Coontz Class Model offered

Photo taken of progress March 13 2005

Commander Series Models, Inc, has started the production cycle for a 1/350 scale kit of a Coontz class DDG.  The kit will be based on BuShips plans of the USS King DDG-41 circa 1983.  The kit will be a one piece full hull kit, with a solid resin hull, resin and white metal parts, photoetch radars, nettings, masts, etc., and decals.  As of May 21, 2004, the pattern for this kit has been started, and the date projected for release of this kit is July 2005 to coincide with the IPMS/USA National Convention In Atlanta, GA.  On average, a kit of this magnitude takes four to six months to develop and produce, and there are other kit releases programmed ahead of this kit.  These kits are programmed due to White Ensign Models having planned to release this kit, and Commander Series not wishing to compete on this subject.  Commander Series wishes to thank White Ensign Models for the opportunity to produce this kit, and recommends that when this kit becomes available, White Ensign Models be considered first for painting supplies and any other research materials the modeler may wish to acquire.

Updates will be posted on the Commander Series website when the kit nears availability.  Also, other modern USN subjects will be made available from Commander Series in the next months, so please feel free to visit our website, and learn more about out company.  We thank all the former crewmen for their service to our country (as an aside, that's coming from a former tank crewman...) and thank you for the opportunity to make this kit for you.  We look forward to doing business with you, and hope this kit will meet with your approval.

 Hi Everyone,

The pattern is complete.  I've enclosed a zip file with four pictures of the complete pattern.  Two are of the parts, and two are with the larger parts on the kit.  The rule is 12 inches long to provide an idea of the size.  Let me know if there are any changes that need to be made.  There are parts not included in the pictures, since they are standard parts we're using in all of our modern kits, so don't be concerned if they're not included.  Hope this message finds all of you well, and please feel free to use these images in any form or forum you wish to.  The pattern is being shipped off for the next stages of production either Tuesday or Wednesday.
