Retired Vice Adm. John Scott Redd was named June 10, 2005, by President George W. Bush to lead the National Counterterrorism Center and was confirmed (http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/nominations/1166.html) by the Senate July 28, 2005. Redd replaced John O. Brennan, the center's interim chief.
