The Last Regulas II

The game plan for the day was; They (Missile Range out of Hawaii) were going to launch the last Regulas II in the Navy’s Inventory for us to use as a target. We were going to fire two missiles at it, the first; a telemetering shot (no warhead) that would do whatever it is that telemetering missiles do! Then we were going to follow up with a real live warhead and blow that sucker out of the sky. I had about 2 minutes worth of film in my camera, so I decided to use it up on the telemetering shot, then put a new roll of film in for the warhead shot, I did not want to miss it! It turned out that the telemetering shot made a direct hit on the Regulas Missile and the thing blew up. There was nothing left to shot the warhead at, so that was it!
