Message: Bill, the first thing I thought of when I woke up this AM was; it's King's Birthday! You are right; where did those 45 years go? I went back to King in 1965 for a second tour, and in 1966 we (the ship) celebrated her 6th Birthday, to commemerate the event, all the Plankowners still aboard were presented with a ship's plaque (when they were made from brass). There were only five of us left at the time. My plaque still hangs on the wall in my study.

Message: I remeber working my butt off along with others in WD Division to get the ship ready for commissioning. I learned how to do a turks head, frapping, sewing with a palm. It was worth it. The King was the best.
