Email: CtDragRcr@aol.com

Years Served: 1982-1984
Great sight. Was up till 5am reading all the comments and looking
at pics. Cheeks hurt a bit from smiling so much as the mind
remembers things long forgotten. Looking forward to being at
the reunion in July. Would like to hear from anyone on board
from 82-86.
Spoke with Pony Boy Hannon and Danny Amoroso a few years back.
Both still kicking. Just heard From Jimmy DeLuca today.
Looking for Riquelme(his email listed came back unknown), Romans,
Hogan, Bowen, Bright, Williams, Kurbyan etc.
Anyone from the Wandering Spokes.
And yes Jay... I still remember being in the forward berth
rubbing the sleep out of my eyes and saying "did he just
say what I thought he said?"

I remember being one of many sitting on the main deck during
the fire that took the four lives. At the time, we knew little
of what our brave damage control crew was doing and how close
the fire actually was to the ammo locker.
I also remember visiting a Jewish Synagogue with Ltjg. Benaroya
(?sp) and having our picture taken and sent to our local papers.

I was just surfing and I came across your website. I spent much
of 1960 on board Coral Sea (CVA 43)at PSNS in Bremerton, WA
Across the pier were King and Coontz under going final consturction
and commissioning. I was new to the navy then and watching the
progress on these marvelous ships was a daily pleasure. I would
point out though that I believe you history portion is in error
as these ships when first built had two not one 5/54 mounts.
Mount 2 was removed in later years to add the ASROC System.
Warm regards
JC

So many things I could write, but reading the guestbook beforehand,
the history is well-noted...so here's something that was unique
to my experience:
I
found a Big Jugs mag with pics upon glossy pics of big jugs
slathered in "male proteins" stuffed
in CDR Moreland's rack when I was cleaning up as a mess crank.
I was shocked AND
appalled at first, but took a break to leaf through it cover
to cover.
Fond fond memories. Went through 'last call' at age 34 and
ALMOST re-elisted. Took the OCS test and passed. Seeing navy
ships make me cry now....which is what precipitated my re-enlistment
crisis. I toured a frigate here in Boston and got all sentimental.
When
we hit the Charlestown, I was in CIC and a new recruit said "Brace for what?" on
the sound-powered phones. I couldn't stop laughing.

Great weekend Scott Devore and his Wife Susan came to my place
in Delware. Took Scott back to sea We caught one fish each but
it was good to be back out under way with old ship mates. Thinking
of painting my boat haze gray and naming it King. LOL what a
hoot that would be. I just got a e mail from the web master
that the reunion for the east coast guys will be in July 23
24 25 2003 or some time there. Can't wait I'll be there.
