I remember the 86 Med cruise, it
was a great cruise once we finished challenging Gaddafi's line
of death. I left the King
in Miami @ the begining of the six month NATO cruise, Iwish i could
have stayed & finished that cruise I heard it was a great one.
I only see one person in the guest book that I served with in B division & that
is BT1 Harris, I hope to see more in the near future. |

I recently made a trip to Bremerton and toured King's
birthplace. My regular duty was in the missle house. Sea and anchor
watch in after steering. I saw a live fire Terrier missile demo for
President Kennedy.USS Mahan had a misfire but King nailed the shot.
Elkins was my chief. GM2 named Chambers looked out for me and taught
me a lot of the ropes. Luckily I was not around when he accidently
fired a .45 round into the overhead during change of guard. he was
embarassd. |

I met a girl in Hong Kong in March 1973 when we on the
King were on our way back from Vietnam. She and I hit it off. She
and her schoolmates were on a tour of the KING. We kept in touch

Kong as a 37 year old businessman instead of the 21 year old sailor.
It was truly an emotional reunion for both of us. We almost got married,
as I returned to Hong Kong many times. Finally, in Sept. 1990 I said
goodbye to her for good. But it |
