valves were the inlet to the burners. They were about
6" in
Diameter. Notice the square glob at the top of the photo.
That was the thermometer that was about 12" long
If you look close you can see the glass tube that
melted (It's
hanging down, long and skinny).

is the hose that ruptured.

is the front of 2A boiler where the hose broke.
It sprayed
oil all over the front of 2B boilers. Both boilers were lit
off at the time.
It was so hot down there it ignited the
fuel off of the lower steam drum. The oil was also under
high pressure.
